Buy Coins in Dallas

Chris buys coins, but he also sells them to collectors and to people who want to own some silver or gold. Book a time, tell him what you are after, and he will tell you what he has available and whether it is a sensible buy.

By appointment with Chris, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

American Gold Eagle and Silver Eagle coins from a Dallas coin dealer

How dealer pricing works when you buy

Bullion is priced from the live spot price plus a premium. The premium covers minting, distribution and the dealer's cost of doing business, and it changes with the product and with demand. Collector coins follow a different rule: grade, date, mint mark and eye appeal set the price, and the metal inside matters less. Chris explains which kind of price you are looking at before you decide.

A 1 ounce American Silver Eagle at today’s spot price

31.1035 grams × 99.9% silver = 0.9990 troy oz × spot $59.08 = $59.02 in metal

Melt value only. Collector value, when a coin has it, is priced separately and shown to you at the table.

What to weigh before you buy

  • Know whether you want metal for its weight or a coin for its collector appeal, since they are priced on different rules.
  • Certified coins in PCGS or NGC holders let you see the grade before you pay.
  • Popular bullion such as Silver and Gold Eagles is easy to resell later.
  • Raw collector coins that look too bright may have been cleaned, which lowers their grade.
  • If you also have coins to sell, ask about a trade, and Chris will tell you honestly whether it makes sense.

What happens at your appointment

  1. 1

    Call ahead

Call 469-599-3283 and say what you are looking for: bullion, a type coin for a set, a date you need, or a certified coin.

  2. 2

    Hear what is available

Chris calls back the same business day and tells you what he has that fits, with no guarantee that a given coin is in stock.

  3. 3

    Look in person

At a one-on-one weekday appointment, you hold the coin, check the holder and ask questions with no pressure to buy.

  4. 4

    Decide on your terms

If it is not a good buy for you, Chris will say so. If it is, you settle up and take it home.

Buying coins in Dallas from a dealer who also buys

Most people find Chris because they have coins to sell. A good number of Dallas collectors call for the opposite reason. It might be a Richardson engineer filling a Peace dollar album one date at a time, a Plano couple who want a few ounces of silver in the safe, or a Preston Hollow grandfather hunting for a birth-year proof set for each grandchild. Chris sells to all of them, by appointment.

Buying from a dealer who also buys has an upside you may not expect. Chris sees what crosses his table each week from estates around Dallas County. A coin he offers you was checked the same way as the coins he pays for: date, mint mark, grade, eye appeal, and metal content on the XRF reader.

Honest advice matters more than a sale. If a raw coin has been cleaned, he will point it out. If a slabbed coin carries a premium a collector would struggle to get back, he will tell you. And if you would be better served buying plain bullion than a pricey collector piece, he will say that too, even though it means a smaller sale.

There is no counter to browse and no stock list on this site. What is on hand changes from week to week, so the best way to learn what is available is to call 469-599-3283 and describe what you want. If he does not have it, he will say so plainly rather than steer you toward something else.

Collectors often have coins to move along as they upgrade. If you are trading up from a worn Morgan to a certified one, bring the old coin with you. Chris buys too, so a trade can be part of the conversation, though every deal is worked out coin by coin and nothing is promised in advance.

Buying appointments are set on weekdays between 9am and 5pm. Buyers come from around Addison Circle, from Legacy West in Plano and from the neighborhoods along Preston Road. Directions come when you book.

Common questions

Can I buy coins from you, or do you only buy?

Both. Chris sells certified coins and bullion to collectors and investors by appointment. Call and tell him what you want, and he will let you know what is available.

Do you post an inventory or price list?

No. What is on hand changes often, so Chris answers by phone and in person instead of keeping a list online.

How is bullion priced when I buy?

Bullion sells at the live spot price plus a premium. The premium varies by product and demand, and Chris shows you how the number is built before you commit.

Should I buy graded or raw coins?

For collector coins, a PCGS or NGC slab tells you the grade up front and protects the coin. Raw coins can make sense too, and Chris will help you judge whether a raw coin looks original or cleaned.

Can I trade my coins toward a purchase?

You can ask. Chris buys and sells, so trading in is something to talk through at your appointment. Whether it works depends on the coins on both sides.

Will you tell me if something is not worth buying?

Yes. If a coin is overpriced for its grade, cleaned, or a poor fit for what you want, Chris will say so. There is no push to buy anything.
