Those slabs are priced on current dealer demand, not melt, and Chris explains the difference coin by coin. A graded Peace dollar in a high grade and the same date worn smooth can be very different coins to a collector.

Moving into a smaller place changes the math. A collector leaving a house in Prestonwood for an apartment may not have room for the safe, and may not want a heavy collection sitting in a shared building.
