For new buyers

If you’re new to collecting coins.

A few things worth knowing before your first purchase. None of this is exhaustive, just useful starting points.

TIP 01

Bullion vs. numismatic

Bullion coins are valued primarily for their metal content. Numismatic coins carry collector premiums based on rarity, date, and condition. Both have their place in a collection.

TIP 02

Certified vs. raw

Certified (slabbed) coins are graded by PCGS or NGC and come with verified grade and authenticity. Raw coins cost less but require more buyer knowledge.

TIP 03

Storage matters

Proper storage (acid-free holders, climate control, no PVC) preserves condition. Damaged coins can lose significant value.

Common questions

Things buyers ask before calling.

Q.01 How is the price of a coin determined when buying? +

Pricing reflects current market conditions, the type of coin, its condition, and any collector demand. For bullion coins, spot price is the largest factor. For numismatic coins, condition and rarity drive pricing.

Q.02 Do you have inventory available immediately? +

Some pieces are typically on hand, others come and go. The fastest way to find out what’s currently available is a phone call.

Q.03 Can you source a specific coin I’m looking for? +

Often yes, depending on the coin. Common bullion is usually available. Specific dates, grades, or rare pieces may take time to source. We can discuss what’s realistic on the call.

Q.04 Are the coins authentic? +

All coins we offer are authenticated. For higher-value pieces, certification by PCGS or NGC is typically already in place or can be discussed.

Q.05 Do you offer guidance for new collectors? +

Yes. Many buyers calling are new to coins. We’re happy to discuss types, what to look for, and how to think about a first purchase. There’s no expectation that the call ends in a transaction.
